WordsOnSight publishes early reading and handwriting practice. This policy sets out what visiting wordsonsight.com involves in data terms, and what you can do about it.

Minors

Readers are assumed to be adults. We neither target nor knowingly collect information from children below 13, or below 16 in jurisdictions setting that limit; such information is deleted if found.

What It Is Used For

We use what we hold to operate the site, to see in aggregate what readers interested in early reading and handwriting practice find useful, to send subscribed email, and to enable advertising where it appears.

Your Control

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to fix it, ask us to delete it, ask for a portable copy, or object to how it is used. You can also opt out of any sale or sharing of your data for advertising purposes. These rights arise under the GDPR (UK and EU) and under CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws. Signing Up for Email

Mailing-list signup requires confirmation from the address given, which stops anyone subscribing you without your knowledge. Unsubscribe links and a postal address appear in every message, and we do not pass the list to anyone.

• Where advertising is served, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Data We Gather

• This site may collect technical visit data (IP address, device and browser identifiers, referrer, pages and times) and, separately, information you supply directly: subscription email addresses, comment names and addresses, and anything written in a message to us.
• There is one niche-specific commitment behind this policy — we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.

Holding Periods and Security

Storage is time-limited and purpose-limited. Subscriber and comment data goes when you withdraw it; analytics data expires on schedule. The site is served over HTTPS, access to what we hold is restricted, and safeguards are kept proportionate to the data involved. No safeguard is perfect.

Third Parties

The parties that may receive data are our hosting provider, any analytics service in use, the email platform behind the newsletter, and advertising networks where advertising is served. Advertising and analytics vendors generally act as independent controllers; the rest act as processors on our instruction.
